LOVE & COMPASSION
Both love and compassion are needed badly in this world, especially in our little Island Sri Lanka where lots of people are hurting and are in mourning right now. There seems to be a number among us who are acting in a completely irrational manner destroying properties and lives. I daresay many faced a huge tragedy and we may not have answers on how to console them over their losses. Yet going on a life for a life basis is certainly not the solution. Many seek salvation in their religion and families to help them through and each deal with their grief in their own way which takes longer for some than others.
We are all looking towards our leaders in great hope to solve the issues and give us an answer. Up till now it seems that most people and businesses are neglected, which only creates a picture of gloom and doom. Hopefully, someone will get this country in order and provide us with the security and assurance that we are all back to normal.
We are once told that we are all safe, with people trying to lure foreigners back to this country, and suddenly all this violence erupts. We must first get the country and its people straightened out before looking across the seas to guarantee a visitor’s safety.
Without love and compassion humanity cannot exist. We all must help each other and tend to people who are in need. There is a lot of tragedy around us and most people are surrounded with problems and unhappiness. Here comes the need for compassion when we all try and understand the pain of others. By receiving some love and compassion, the sense of comfort will not increase their problems. Empathy and compassion are at many times the need of the hour and should not be confused with sympathy. Trying to feel what others are going through and then helping them in any manner possible is what is required. It is for this reason that love, and compassion are not a luxury but a necessity.
As the Dalai Lama XIV said, “love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.”
