TNA Vanni District MP to vote in favour of NCM

TNA Vanni District MP Charles Nirmalanat­han yesterday said he had decided to vote in favour of the no confidence motion that have been brought against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

However, he said TNA as a party had not decided on an official stand on the motion.

“I have decided to vote in favour of the motion as per the request made by the people in my district,” he said.

Mr. Nirmalanat­han is the fourth Catholic MP to decide to vote in favour of the motion. Three UNP MPS namely Hector Appuhamy, Dr. Kavinda Jayawarden­e and Niroshan Perera have already said they are likely to vote in favour of the motion.

There are 12 Catholic MPS in the current Parliament, with six MPS in the UNP, four in the UPFA and two in TNA. Out of which eight MPS are likely to vote in favour of the
