Man arrested with some bullets
A suspect was arrested with a stock of ammunition, used in automatic weapons, during a raid on a house at Yasasiripura by the Anuradhapura Police on Saturday.
The Police had carried out the raid and searched the house on information received by the Police Emergency Service, 119.
Two National Identity Cards, one belonging to a Muslim man the other belonging to Sinhala man from the Medawachchiya area, were among other suspicious objects seized.
The suspect had told the Police that his grandfather, who was a retired Police Officer, had brought the stock of ammunition.
He had said the stock of ammunition had been left in the house even after the death his grandfather.
He was to be produced before Anuradhapura Magistrate yesterday afternoon.
OIC Crime Investigation Branch IP Gayan Samarakoon, Sergeant 64186, Upali and 54910, Wijesinghe are conducting investigations on the instructions of HQI Anuradhapura Police CI Sanjeewa Mahanama.
