VALUABLE TEMPLE REQUISITES OFFERED TO KATARAGAMA MAHA DEVALA
Several objects and temple wares required for Poojas in the Kataragama Maha Devala was offered to the Devala during a ceremony held on the Wesak full moon Poya Day. The requisites made of gold included two traditional oil lamps, a pitcher, a camphor burner, a jug and a flower stand.
The requisites had been turned out with gold donated by the pilgrims and the business community. Basnayake Nilame of the Maha Devala Dilruwan Rajapakse who received the stock of temple wares handed over it to the Chief Kapurala T. Somipala Ratnayaka.
Commander of the 12 Brigade in Hambantota Mjr. Gen. Deepthi Jayatilleka, Former Director, Information Ranga Kalansuriya, Buddhist Affairs Management Asst. P.H.P. Kumarage, Director , National Gem and Jewellery authority, Divisional Secretary A.M. Nandasiri and Chairman of the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha Amil Rangana were present at the occasion.
