Emergency extended by one month

The gazette notification pertaining to the extension of emergency laws for another month was presented to Parliament yesterday.

President Maithripala Sirisena imposed emergency just after the Easter Sunday bombings on April 22, 2019. It was imposed for a month as per the constitution and that month lapsed from yesterday. As per the new gazette notification, emergency will be in force till June 22, 2019.
