JVP’S NCM against Govt. a concept of PM: S.B.

- BY NADEEKA DAYA BANDARA

The no confidence motion (NCM) brought in by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) against the Government, was a concept of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, UPFA MP S.B. Dissanayake said.

Addressing a news briefing at his residence, he said the discussions were underway between Sri Lanka Freedom Party and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna not to support the NCM.

“Minister Malik Samarawickrama has provided the JVP leader with necessary privileges to get this work done successfully,” MP Dissanayake said.

“Powerful UNP Ministers like Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ravi Karunanayake and Malik Samarawickrama want to unite the UNP which is at an imminent split. That’s why they had given a contact of this nature to the JVP so that the President would pay his immediate attention on the matter,” he said.

He said he would not whatsoever give his support for the NCM against Bathiudeen.

Meanwhile, he said a faction of UNP MPS had raised their voice that they would vote against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen at the NCM against him.

“Besides, certain powerful UNP ministers have also decided to vote in favour of NCM against Bathiudeen,” MP Dissanayake added.
