Suspect who had link with Zahran handed over to TID: Police

The suspect who was arrested on April 27 for having closer connection­s with the terrorist group who committed attack on the Easter Sunday April 21 had been handed over to the Terrorist Investigat­ion Division (TID) on Tuesday for further questionin­g, police said.

They said the suspect was arrested in Dharga Town, Aluthgama by the officials of the Aluthgama Police for having connection­s with the terror attack suspects.

The suspect was identified as Muhammad Bashir Muhammad Fazhan and police investigat­ions revealed that the suspect had been having close connection­s with the National Thawheed Jamaat (NTJ) leader Mohamed Zahran Hashim who was killed in the Colombo Shangri-la hotel blast on Easter Sunday.
