Sus­pect who had link with Zahran handed over to TID: Po­lice

The sus­pect who was ar­rested on April 27 for hav­ing closer con­nec­tions with the ter­ror­ist group who committed at­tack on the Easter Sun­day April 21 had been handed over to the Ter­ror­ist In­ves­ti­ga­tion Di­vi­sion (TID) on Tuesday for fur­ther ques­tion­ing, po­lice said.

They said the sus­pect was ar­rested in Dharga Town, Aluthgama by the of­fi­cials of the Aluthgama Po­lice for hav­ing con­nec­tions with the ter­ror at­tack suspects.

The sus­pect was iden­ti­fied as Muham­mad Bashir Muham­mad Fazhan and po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that the sus­pect had been hav­ing close con­nec­tions with the Na­tional Thawheed Ja­maat (NTJ) leader Mo­hamed Zahran Hashim who was killed in the Colombo Shangri-la ho­tel blast on Easter Sun­day.
