De­fence Min­istry clar­i­fies

Fol­low­ing state­ment was sent by the me­dia unit of De­fence Min­istry. A sup­ple­men­tary Bud­get of Rs.190 mil­lion for two bul­let proof ve­hi­cles for the Pres­i­dent as the Min­is­ter of De­fence and the newly ap­pointed Sec­re­tary to the Min­istry of De­fence, has been passed by the Par­lia­ment re­cently. The Min­istry of De­fence strongly denounces the base­less al­le­ga­tions related to it.

It is em­pha­sised that nei­ther the Pres­i­dent nor the newly ap­pointed Sec­re­tary re­quested any sup­ple­men­tary bud­get at this crit­i­cal mo­ment, and the afore­said sup­ple­men­tary bud­get of Rs. 190 mil­lion for ve­hi­cles, has been for­warded to the Par­lia­ment a year ago on con­sid­er­ing the re­quire­ment of ve­hi­cles for the Min­istry of De­fence. It is a re­quest made a year ago, that has been passed by the par­lia­ment last week.the Min­istry of De­fence denounces with dis­gust, the false pro­pa­ganda through var­i­ous web sites and news­pa­pers with­out as­cer­tain­ing the truth of the news.

Gen. Shan­tha Kot­te­goda (Rtd), the Sec­re­tary to the Min­istry of De­fence while ex­press­ing his dis­ap­point­ment, de­clared that he is not a nar­row minded per­son to leave the Na­tional ob­jec­tives and Na­tional Se­cu­rity aside at a time of a Na­tional cri­sis like this. Con­demn­ing the false pro­pa­ganda, he fur­ther said that he un­der­stands the difficulti­es of peo­ple well and he al­ways stands with them on any ar­du­ous sit­u­a­tion.
