Message from Project Chairperson Newspaper Supplement 2018/2019
I take pleasure in sending this message to the Lions Special Supplement - Daily Mirror.
Let me appreciate all the Clubs for their valuable projects and the Past Leaders of our District who contributed articles for this publication.
The end of the lionistic Year 2018/2019 became a sad one for the entire nation with the Easter Sunday terrorist attack. It happened us to postpone our ceremonial sessions from the 04th of this month to the 25th of May, 2019.
We can be proud as Lions after a very successful year of performance with a large number of humanitarian projects which immensely benefited the less fortunate community in our district and beyond. We should appreciate the efforts of our District Governor Lioness Chandani Withana and her able team who led the district with passion and enthusiasm. In addition it is appropriate to congratulate the good work of the entire convention steering committee and the advisors who are ready to make a colourful convention tomorrow. I should make a special appreciation to Past District Governor Lion. Paddy Withana for extending me a great support to produce this supplement.
We are honouring a few individuals with the Most Outstanding Citizen Award 2019 under this year’s theme: “Exceptional Contributions to the Society” - who created an innovative product, service or an action which benefited the society at large.
We have selected three individuals this year and I would like to congratulate them for their great contribution to our motherland.
I take this opportunity to thank our advertisers, Wijaya Newspapers and the staff of Daily Mirror for the support extended to me in producing this supplement.
