Tree feller falls to his death

An in­di­vid­ual prun­ing a tree near Ma­hagoda tem­ple in But­tala fell down from the tree and died on ad­mis­sion to Monara­gala Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal. The vic­tim Nuwan Chanaka (29) was a res­i­dent of Madu­ruketiya in Monara­gala and fa­ther of a child.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that he was a ca­sual labourer of the De­part­ment of Agri­cul­ture and that he had been work­ing on his off day yes­ter­day un­der a pri­vate con­trac­tor of the State Tim­ber Cor­po­ra­tion who had un­der­taken to cut down a tree by the road­side. But­tala Po­lice are con­ducted in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
