Wattala land sale, UC followed proper procedures - Salley
The committee appointed by the Western Province Governor to inquire into the alleged irregularities in the sale of a land at Hendala junction owned by the Wattala – Mabola Urban Council has reported that the UC had followed the proper tender procedure and guaranteed transparency in the deal.
The SLFP member of the UC Nimal Siri Koralage had accused the UC of selling the land at a price less than the current land value and requested the governor for a formal investigation.
Governor Azath Salley said the committee had confirmed that the Chairman, the Secretary and the other relevant officials of the UC had strictly adhered to the tender procedure and sold the land for more than the estimated government valuation.
