Treasure hunters nabbed in ginigathgala

Seven men illegally engaged in excavation seeking treasure, were taken into custody by Haldummulla Police in Ginigathgala area.

The police, on information raided a remote spot in Nidangoda area in Ginigathgala and found the suspects had dug up a 20-foot- pit.

The police seized sledge hammers, shovels, crowbars, sharp weapons and drills to disintegrate the granite rock beds in the location.

The arrested suspects were reportedly residents of the same area. They were to be produced before Bandarawela Magistrate’s Courts today.
