Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera who is a former MP of the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) said there seemed to be elements of terrorism, placing obstacles on the way of the security forces in carrying out search operations at Mosques.

At the event held on Saturday in Embilipitiya A.D. Rajapaksa Commemorative Centre to launch two Dhamma books of the Chief Incumbent of Matara Udaaparekke Sri Jinarathanarama Temple Ven. Pusselle Rathanajothi Thera, he expressed his views in this manner.

“In the incidents of 1971 and 1989 security forces entered temples and carried out search operations.

Monks were dragged out of the beds while they were asleep without any respect for the monks and even searched Buddha statues, moving them from the places where they were. Even amidst these we didn’t object to their duties,” he said.
