It is feared whether Presidential Polls will be delayed- MP Shehan Semasinghe
Anuradhapura District SLPP MP Shehan Semasinghe said that the government postponed both the local government and provincial council elections and information had been received that arrangements were made to postpone the presidential election in the same fashion.
He said so at a press briefing held yesterday (26) in his office in Anuradhapura.
“Provincial council elections should be held before the Presidential election. there is a delay of more than one year and seven months in holding the provincial council elections. But there is no preparation for holding provincial council elections. Then comes the Presidential election.the government seems preparing to go to courts trying to postpone it,” he said. He requested the government that the presidential
election be conducted on the due date at a time when the people are repressed. According to him, the government has not made awareness about the security and economic condition.
“The government fears that people will rise against them if they know the truth.the people are fed up with the government. there is a question about national security.
He said that the performance of some doctors had become a threat in the field of health.the education system has broken down. when looking at these problems, a question arises as to whether the President and the Prime Minister have a moral right to rule the country in this way. What is the positive aspect these two leaders have brought about to this country? He said that he was ashamed of getting two leaders like them because the daily life of the people has broken down.
In conclusion, he emphasized the fact that the President and the Prime Minister are weak rulers and they have nothing do to other than criticizing
Mahinda Rajapaksa and others.
The government fears that people will rise against them if they know the truth. The people are fed up with the government. There is a question about national security
