-

King’s Pavilion, in a commemorative act to pay respect to the victims of the recent Easter Sunday bomb attacks, held a ceremony with the lighting of oil lamps to remember and invoke blessings on our citizens as well as tourists killed, those injured and the loved ones left behind.

It was held at Hotel King’s Pavilion, Kandy on May 21, 2019, to mark the one month anniversary of the tragedy.

Kandy Mayor Kesara Senanayake, former Kandy Mayor Mahendra Ratwatte and King’s Pavilion Managing Director Dinesh Fernando including the staff and invitees were present at the event.

Religious dignitaries representing the Buddhist clergy, Hindu, Roman Catholic, Christian and Muslim religions took part in the proceedings in a unified expression of love and compassion towards our fellow citizens and tourists affected.

Prayers were offered by all the religious representatives and were followed by an alms giving for lunch. A ‘Bodi Pooja Pinkama’ was also held at the sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa, a historic place of worship befitting the remembrance of the Easter Sunday tragedy; that will go down in history as an attack against the sanctity of religious worship and innocent tourists visiting our motherland.
