SATHISH PERERA
The 49th birth anniversary of popular singer Sathish Perera falls on May 29. The Ananda College old boy, whose father Shelton Perera was also a reputed musician and singer, was 43 at the time of his death. Sathish Perera was a crowd puller at musical shows where he sang a mix of his father’s songs and his own creations. Among the hits were Awasan Liyumai Obata Liyanne, Maha Muhudu Wimane, Egodaha Yanno, Amba Damba Naran, Mihirethi Wasantha Kale, An Hematama Wada, Suwanda Rosa Mal, Kanduluwalin Pem Hasuna Liyannata, Adareta Hadu Dun Tharam and hundreds of others. He launched two music albums ‘Pem Hasuna’ and ‘Egodaha Yanno’ which became hits.
