D. R. PEIRIS
The 15th death anniversary of renowned musician D. R. Peiris falls on June 1. He completed a course at the Bhathkande College of Music in India and excelled as a fine tablist. Later he led the SLBC orchestra and composed music for films like Palangetiyo, Diyamanthi, Kanchana, Badulu Kochchiya, Hansa Geethaya and others. He won the Sarasaviya award for the best music director for Palangetiyo. He passed away on June 1, 2004.
