The 25th death anniversary of Sinhala cinema’s yester year dream girl Sandhya Kumari falls on June 2. Sandhya who was born Dona Mary Yvonne Perera in Kotahena on January 6, 1945, was later christened Sandhya Kumari when she made her film debut in ‘Adata Wediya Heta Hondai’. The gorgeous actress was extremely popular during the sixties and early seventies following the box office success of several movies like Dheewarayo, Senasuma Kothenada, Soora Chowraya, Soorayangeth Sooraya, Patachara, Satha Panaha and others. She died on June 2 in 1994 at the age of 49.
