Jaffna students gifted with bicycles

Twelve more students of lowincome families in the Jaffna Peninsula were fortunate to receive brand new push bicycles, thanks to an initiative taken by Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna in collaboration with one Mr Nirmalan Selvadurai, a philanthropist, resident in Australia.

The distribution ceremony took place at the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Friday (24) in the presence of parents and teachers of the recipients. Major General Hettiarachchi and a few Senior Officers presented those push bicycles to students. A brief speech made by the Jaffna Commander thanked the donor for his thoughtfulness and appreciation of Army roles towards betterment of living conditions of Jaffna people. A representative gathering of Army personnel witnessed the distribution programme.
