RADM KAPILA ASSUMES DUTIES AS COMMANDER OF NORTHERN NAVAL AREA

Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera assumed duties as the Commander Northern Naval Area at the NNC Headquarters, on May 28. His predecessor, Rear Admiral Merill Wickramasinghe formally

handed over the duties of the position to Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera at the Northern Naval Command HQ located at SLNS Uththara.

The incoming Area Commander was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received to the Northern Naval Command and a similar formation followed suit to honour Rear Admiral Merill Wickramasinghe after he was congratulated by fellow officers of the Northern Naval Command.

Rear Admiral Merrill Wickramasinghe is due to take over the Eastern Naval Command as the Area Commander.
