Four men posing as CID officials rob businessman

A gang of four men that entered the house of a businessman in Kalawelara area in Monaragala under the pretext of CID officials who had been instructed to search his house had taken away cash Rs.140,000 and a gold ring valued Rs.30,000. During investigations of the businessman’s complaint the police arrested the gang and seized their van.

One of the suspects was an interdicted STF official and another retired military official. The suspects were from Walasmulla, Weliamuna, Kudaoya, and Debarawewa areas. A police team under OIC Monaragala police CI Wehitha Deshapriya is conducting further investigations.
