Head-on collision kills young woman motorcyclist

A 27-year-old young woman died and another was seriously injured in a head on collision of a motorcycle and an army truck at Rambewa on the A9 highway.

The deceased Jawahir Mohamed Jancika was a resident of Nachchaduwa in Anuradhapura and a clerk of the Vavuniya office of the National Youth Services Council. She had been on her way to office on the motorcycle when she met with the accident. The pillion rider who received serious injuries was admitted to Rambewa Hospital and transferred in a critical condition to the intensive care unit of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
