Israel heads to elections after Netanyahu fails to form government
TEL AVIV (DPA), 30 MAY, 2019- Israeli lawmakers voted in favour of dissolving parliament late Wednesday following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s failure to form a coalition government, forcing the country to hold its second general election in less than six months.
The vote passed with 74 members of the 120-seat Knesset voting in favour, 45 against and one absent.
The date set for the next election is September 17, marking an unprecedented situation of a second general election in one year and the dissolution of parliament just a month after it was sworn in.
