BUS DRIVER TRIES TO MOW DOWN A PEDESTRIAN BLOCKING HIS VEHICLE
This is the disturbing moment a public bus tries to mow down a pedestrian who appears to be taunting the driver.
The single-decker vehicle was filmed accelerating down a street in Rome towards the man before smacking into him and knocking him backwards.
The pedestrian is seen lingering in the middle of the road deliberately blocking the bus from coming past, but it is unclear if any prior provocations had caused the driver’s aggressive reaction.
The bus company, Atac, which operates the public transport system in the Italian capital, is poised to fire the driver once identified, according to Sky TG24.
Dramatic video filmed above the street captured the intense confrontation which ended with the attempted ploughing down.
The short clip starts by showing the man, dressed in jeans and a light coloured t-shirt swaggering away from the stationary number 786 bus.
He is stands in the middle of the narrow road and is also surrounded by several small dogs.
Once he has walked about 50ft from the bus, he stops and turns around to face it before seemingly reaching for his phone.
Suddenly, the bus bursts forward and aims directly at the defenceless pedestrian who remains defiant in the road.
The man braces for the impact and slams the palms of his hands on the windscreen to try somehow push the mammoth vehicle back.
But the bus shoves him backwards and the man stumbles as the person behind the camera let’s out a panicked cry.
After being alerted to the video which was circulated on Facebook, Atac released a statement.
It said (translated): ‘Pending the conclusion of the assessments, Atac will proceed to suspend the responsible driver once it has been identified.
‘The company will also assess a complaint against the employee.’
