Bharat, Singh shine on day one

A fine knock of 117 inclusive of 14 boundaries and a six by Srikar Bharat and a half century by Anmolpreet Singh were the highlights of the first day’s play of the second Unofficial Test match between India ‘A’ and Sri Lanka ‘A’ which began at the Nehru Stadium in Hubli yesterday.

Bharat and Singh were associated in a valuable 91-run partnershi­p for the fourth-wicket as India ‘A’ taking first lease of the wicket reached 269 runs in their first innings.

Right-arm pacie Lahiru Kumara and left-arm spinner Lakshan Sandakan shared eight wickets between them.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ in reply lost their openers Pathum

Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawick­rama cheaply with the score reading 26 runs before they finished at 87 for four.
