North to get four new courts
The Ministry of Justice has taken steps to establish four new courts in the North with an allocation of Rs.1,500 million, monitoring Minister of Justice Wijepala Hettiarachchi said.
A sum of Rs.1,500 million has been allocated for the construction of court buildings in Mankulam, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Jaffna, the Minister said.
He had visited the locations of these court buildings last week to observe the construction work on the request of Minister of Justice and Prison Reforms Thalatha Athukorala and had found the construction work progressing well.
The congestion in courts is expected to be eased with establishment of the new courts in the North.
