A56-year-old man, wanted over the shooting of a Police Constable (PC) to death at Akuressa on May 22, was killed in a shoot out with the police early yesterday morning at Urumuththa in Akuressa.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the suspect

Lokuge Dharmasiri, a resident of Urumutta was killed when he opened fired at police to evade the arrest.

He said the suspect was injured in the shooting and succumbed to injuries after admission to the Akuressa Hospital. The police recovered a locally made fire arm which had been used by the suspect for the shooting.
