More sup­port for Rathana Thera

A protest was held at the Weligama bus stand yes­ter­day de­mand­ing the re­moval of M.L.A.M His­bulla and Asath Sal­ley from the posts of Gover­nors and Rishad Bathi­udeen from the post of In­dus­try and Com­merce Min­is­ter.

Pro­tes­tors also wished Ven Athure­liye Rathana Thera who is on a fast unto death opposite the Dal­ada Mali­gawa, good health and courage to con­tinue the fast.

This protest had been or­gan­ised by the Weligama Vi­harad­hipathi As­so­ci­a­tion, Weligama and Welip­i­tiya Sasa­narak­shka Bala Man­dalayas. A large crowd ex­tend­ing their sup­port to the Bud­dhist Monks who were lead­ing the protest was seen car­ry­ing posters and ban­ners de­mand­ing the re­moval of Gover­nors His­bulla and Asath Sal­ley and Min­is­ter Rishad Bathi­udeen from their posts.

The protest which lasted for about one hour dis­persed with the chanting of Seth Pirith by the monks.
