Student assaulted with broomstick

The manager of an International School in Kalutara area is alleged to have caused injuries to a student by assaulting him with a broomstick.

The suspect Ranoj Dheeratne was produced before Kalutara Chief Magistrate Chandika Edirimanna and remanded till today (04.)

OIC MO Branch IP Thennakoon told court that the suspect had assaulted the student for breaking a water tap in the school toilet.the suspect was arrested during investigations of a complaint received from the victim’s father Thimbirigalage Wasantha Kumara Nissanka of Payagala.

The complainant stated that the boy who returned home from school was vomiting and when questioned he revealed the incident.

HQI Akila Ranasinghe in his report to court stated that during investigations he examined the CCTV camera in the school.
