36 YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN ARRESTED AT NIGHT CLUB

Using illegal intoxicants

Agroup of 36 young men and women who had been using intoxicants were arrested by a team of officials from the Jayawardene Pura Excise Office during a raid on an illegal night club at Kahantota in Malabe. During the raid the officials had seized a large stock of illegal intoxicants used by the suspects.

Excise Inspector Hemantha Karunatilleka who received information on a get-together of face book friends organised by the night club deployed a decoy to attend the programme and carried out the raid on intelligence received from him that illegal intoxicants were being used by the participants.

He said the suspect young men and women were between 18 and 24 years of age and face book friends.

The suspects were to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate yesterday.
