MONDAY

Kitchen tips, Nellie (Amla) berries possess powerful anti-cancer properties. For deep frying, coconut oil is best. It is best to use the oil for frying only once. For tempering, use Olive Oil. Dont re-fry food that has been already fried. Flour is sifted to introduce air into the mixture and make a lighter end product.

TUESDAY

To remove ink stains from a white garment , rub white toothpaste into the stain with a toothbrush or nail brush. Leave for a few minutes, then wash off.

WEDNESDAY

Crusty Lemon Butter Bake. Make a cake using 165gm each, margarine, sugar, and flour, 2 eggs, one and a half tsp baking powder, according to the usual method.when cake is baked, take it out of the oven, and while still hot, spread a thin paste made with about four dessertspo­ons sugar and juice of a lemon or lime. Put back in oven for a couple of minutes, with the oven turned off. The juice sinks in, leaving top crispy when cold.

THURSDAY

Lemon peel has many nutritiona­l benefits. Freeze the lemon, and shred the whole lemon with a grater. The peel contains five to ten times the nutrients as the flesh and juice. Sprinkle grated lemon on your salad, soup, cereal, noodles etc.

FRIDAY

Do you know the difference between a Rice Pillau and a Rice Buriyani?i got the answer from a TV programme I watched recently. The chef said that basically the ingredient­s are the same , but in the case of the Pillau, the rice is spiced very mildly, while in a Buriyani, the rice is heavily spiced.
