Dinner at Capri

Lakshmi Wickremasinghe hosted her sisters in law Kachan and Trixie and me to dinner at

Capri recently. I recall the time when Capri was started here by an Italian and was right next door to my parents’ home at Green Path. My parents were among the first members among many leading lights of the community. The food is still very good and we enjoyed the evening, listening to Kachan who is Japanese talking about Japan. Capri is the only place in Colombo which has Rum omelette which was my father’s favourite dessert on the menu and I never fail to order it whenever I go there.

Lakshmi, Trixie and I talked about what Colombo was like in our youth, infinitely safer, more genteel and good fun.
