Grand celebratio­n for Poson this year - PM’S office

THE MAIN CELEBRATIO­NS WILL BE HELD IN ANURADHAPU­RA

Outdoor activities which were absent for Vesak this year are to be allowed for Poson, Prime Minister’s Office said yesterday.

This decision has been made at a meeting which Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesi­nghe had together with a group of senior monks and laypersons at ‘Temple Trees’ last afternoon.

The Prime Minister has assured that Poson will be held in a grand scale this year.

It was revealed in this meeting that a total of one million people are expected in to visit various places during Poson festival including Anurdhapur­a where main celebratio­ns will be held.

secretaria­t offices, while there will be a sil campaign at Temple Trees on June 14, 2019. Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasa­m said there will be preaching and sil campaigns in schools as well.

It was decided that maximum security will be provided in all parts of the country during the Poson festival.
