Luxury motorcar rams into moving train

A luxury motorcar rammed into a moving train at Hirassagala railway level crossing in Kandy yesterday afternoon causing injuries to two passengers and the railway gateman.

Police said the two passengers were a businessman of the area and his 14 year old son and that the car had been driven by the former.

The injured were admitted to the Kandy General Hospital.

The eyewitnesses said that at the time of the incident the gate had not been closed and the motor car had entered the level crossing.

The motorcar that got entangled in the train was dragged a short distance and hit the gateman’s cabin causing injuries to the gateman.

Traffic branch of the Kandy Police conducted investigations.
