Israeli Attorney General rejects delay in Netanyahu hearing

TELAVIV(DPA) 6 JUNE2019- Israel’s Attorney General has rejected an appeal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to delay a hearing into corruption allegation­s set for later this year, Israeli media reported on Thursday.

In a letter to Netanyahu’s lawyer, an adviser to Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit wrote that the dissolutio­n of parliament and new elections on September 17 were no reason to delay the hearing set for the start of October.

The premier would have enough time to prepare, the letter reads. Netanyahu will now have until Monday to confirm whether he will attend the hearing.

Netanyahu faces three corruption probes for bribery, fraud and breach of trust. He has denied all the allegation­s against him.the country’s attorney general intends to make a final decision on whether to bring charges against Netanyahu after the hearing.
