Un­beaten St. Joseph’s favourites

The high-rid­ing St Joseph’s Col­lege which is the only un­beaten team will con­front S. Thomas’ Col­lege in their In­ter-schools Un­der-19 League Rugby Tour­na­ment sec­ond-round match at Mount Lavinia today.

The two schools will also bat­tle it out for the Lady Jay­atileke Shield.

The Josephi­ans are hop­ing to re­tain the Shield for the third suc­ces­sive year hav­ing won last year’s match 33-10.

The Josephi­ans led by num­ber eight Tharindu de Al­wis are aim­ing to lift the League ti­tle for the first time.

Mean­while, the Tho­mi­ans will look to pro­duce the same form af­ter they held the strong Isi­pathana out­fit to a 12-12 draw last week at the same venue.

The Josephi­ans will be bank­ing on Skipper Tharindu de Al­wis, San­thush Al­gama, Tharindu Madu­ranga, Rashane Gu­nawar­dena, Su­daraka De­vap­riya and Cheka Jayawar­dena.

The Tho­mi­ans have in their ranks play­ers of the cal­i­bre of Skipper Harith, Lashan­dra de Silva, Jaan de Zoysa, Re­han Olu­gala, Shenuk Per­era, Ovin Het­tiarachchi, Thevin Eriyagama, Sadak Ishak and Sakith Per­era to match their op­po­nents.
