Soldier arrested for using fake notes to buy fags

A solider attached to an army camp in the Mannar area who had in his possession three counterfeit currency notes of Rs. 5000 denomination was taken into custody by the Kuruvita Police.the suspect who attempted to pay for cigarettes using the forged currency was arrested on information received from the trader.

The suspect was a resident of the Thanthirimale area and had been attending a three-day training course at the Regimental Headquarters of the Gemunu Watch in Kuruwita. He told police that he received the three currency notes from an individual known to him who wanted him to by a bundle of cigarettes with it. He stated that the individual concerned told him that he did not want to have any dealings with that trader.
