Re­signed Mus­lim Min­is­ters meet Leader of Op­po­si­tion

Sev­eral Mus­lim MPS who re­cently re­signed from their port­fo­lios met the Op­po­si­tion Leader Mahinda Ra­japaksa at his of­fi­cial res­i­dence on Satur­day.

MPS Rauff Ha­keem,rishad Bathi­udeen, Ameer Ali, Faisal Cas­sim,ab­dul Hale em, a.h.m.fowzy were among the for­mer min­is­ters par­tic­i­pated in a dis­cus­sion that lasted for more than an hour.

Res­ig­na­tion of all the Mus­lim Min­is­ters will cre­ate a mis­un­der­stand­ing among the non­mus­lim peo­ple, re­li­gious lead­ers, Mahinda Ra­japaksa has told the for­mer min­is­ters and it is not a proper so­lu­tion.

First Mus­lim peo­ple should have the con­fi­dence in their Mus­lim lead­ers, then the peo­ple of other re­li­gions would have con­fi­dence in them which will help to elim­i­nate con­fu­sions that pre­vail in the coun­try, Op­po­si­tion leader said. He stressed that no­body should be al­lowed to cre­ate racial­ism in the coun­try. He also re­minded the mas­sacre of Mus­lim peo­ple by LTTE for not sup­port­ing them in the 3 decade old war. Af­ter con­sid­er­ing the re­ac­tions of the Mus­lim masses and con­sid­er­ing life threat to Ven.athu­laliye Rathana Thera then on hunger protest they all de­cided to ten­der their res­ig­na­tions the Mus­lim MPS have re­it­er­ated.

Dr. Ban­dula Gu­nawar­dena, Ke­he­liya Ram­buk­wella, and sev­eral par­lia­men­tar­i­ans and Chair­man of SLPP G.L. Peiris were also present at the dis­cus­sion.
