Gates to be installed at unprotected level crossings
The Government has decided to handover the manufacture of 200 gates for the unprotected level crossing of the railway to an Indian Company.
State Minister of Transport Ashok Abeysinghe said that 200 gates are being manufactured at present out of 674 gates which are needed for the unprotected train level crossings.
He further said that 116 gates are already manufactured and rest of the gates are scheduled to be handed over at the end of this year.
After calling for tenders, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided last week to handover manufacturing of 200 gates to an Indian Company. Three Companies have submitted tenders for this purpose.
He further said that before end of next year all gates will be installed at the unprotected level crossings.
