Resigned Muslim Ministers meet Leader of Opposition

Several Muslim MPS who recently resigned from their portfolios met the Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa at his official residence on Saturday.

MPS Rauff Hakeem,rishad Bathiudeen, Ameer Ali, Faisal Cassim,abdul Hale em, a.h.m.fowzy were among the former ministers participat­ed in a discussion that lasted for more than an hour.

Resignatio­n of all the Muslim Ministers will create a misunderst­anding among the nonmuslim people, religious leaders, Mahinda Rajapaksa has told the former ministers and it is not a proper solution.

First Muslim people should have the confidence in their Muslim leaders, then the people of other religions would have confidence in them which will help to eliminate confusions that prevail in the country, Opposition leader said. He stressed that nobody should be allowed to create racialism in the country. He also reminded the massacre of Muslim people by LTTE for not supporting them in the 3 decade old war. After considerin­g the reactions of the Muslim masses and considerin­g life threat to Ven.athulaliye Rathana Thera then on hunger protest they all decided to tender their resignatio­ns the Muslim MPS have reiterated.

Dr. Bandula Gunawarden­a, Keheliya Rambukwell­a, and several parliament­arians and Chairman of SLPP G.L. Peiris were also present at the discussion.
