Rail-bus collided with a motor vehicle

Two persons had been admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital after their vehicle collided with a rail-bus at an unprotecte­d railway level crossing near the Puwakwatte Junction, Meegoda on the Kelani Valley Railway Line yesterday, the Meegoda Police said.

The motor vehicle collided with a rail-bus when it tried to enter the unprotecte­d railway level crossing near the Puwakwatte Junction, Meegoda on the Kelani Valley Railway Line, the Police said.

They said that the motor vehicle was seriously damaged due to this accident and the rail-bus was travelling to Kosgama from Maharagama.

According to Police preliminar­y inquiries had revealed that the person who was employed at the unprotecte­d crossing was not present at the time of the incident.

Residents said that this was the second rail-bus accident within a week within in a

kilometre on the Kelani Valley Railway Line.

The Meegoda Police are conducting investigat­ions.
