German foreign minister stresses support for twostate solution
AMMAN (DPA), 9 JUNE, 2019 - German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas committed himself on Sunday to the twostate solution to solve the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians as the international community waits for the US peace plan for the Middle East to be unveiled.
After a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Amman on Sunday, Maas said: “We are and we remain united in the need for a negotiated two-state solution.” This solution envisages the creation of a Palestinian state independent of Israel.
At the same time, he pledged further support to UNRWA, the United Nations Palestine Relief and Works Agency boycotted by Washington.
The work of this relief agency continued to be of great importance in the future, therefore Germany would not end its support, Maas said.
