Mahinda be­gin cam­paign on win­ning note

Last year’s semi-fi­nal­ists Mahinda Col­lege Galle be­gan their Un­der 17 in­ter-school cricket tour­na­ment in style with a con­vinc­ing 123-run win against Sri De­vananda MV Am­balan­goda in the first round match played at Teachers Train­ing Ground in Balapi­tiya yes­ter­day.

The match got off to a late start due to the wet out­field and was cur­tailed to 26 overs. Mahinda tak­ing first lease of the wicket were guided by Shakya Sam­path who made 62 to help them make a chal­leng­ing score of 191.

Later Mahinda’s bowl­ing trio Kushan Madusha, Sri Lanka youth player Navod Paranavith­ana and Sachin Tilek­er­atne shared nine wick­ets be­tween them to bun­dle out the De­vans for a pal­try 68 runs.
