In a corruption, fraud and cybercrime rampant world, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), in its capacity as an influential professional body, has played an exemplary role in strengthening the skills of professional accountants and accounting students to combat these growing dangers.

In line with this important objective, CA Sri Lanka annually conducts two vital programs, namely the Diploma in Information Systems Security Control and Audit (DISSCA) and the Certificate Course in Forensic Accounting to inculcate specialised skills among professional accountants to help them fight these risks.

CA Sri Lanka recently recognised 50 students who had successfully completed both courses conducted by the institute. At an awards ceremony, 30 professional accountants including chartered accountants who had successfully completed the forensic accounting course were awarded certificates by CA Sri Lanka President Jagath Perera. Another 20 students who completed the DISSCA programme were awarded diploma certificates by CA Sri Lanka CEO Dulani Fernando.

The DISSCA programme jointly conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), has to date trained hundreds of professionals including managers, supervisors of audit firms, internal auditors, accountants and financial controllers in enhancing their expertise in this unique field.the forensic accounting course has become a sought after programme at the institute among chartered accountants and other professional accountants as it covers pertinent areas associated with modern forensic and investigative accounting techniques, which helps accountants gain a thorough understanding of the principles and practices used by accountants, internal auditors, and others on how to examine financial and other related information.
