If you follow celebrity fashion and social media stars, you’re probably aware of cult brand Misho Designs and all the fabulous people wearing it. Rihanna has worn it and so has Katy Perry and most recently, spotted in Misho Design twice in one week, supermodel Kendall Jenner. Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Anushka Sharma are all fans as well.

“Misho is lead by creative director Suhani Parekh who studied Fine Art and Art History at

Goldsmiths University in London where she predominately worked with sculpture and installations. The pieces are inspired by an accumulation of ideas from her interactions with contemporary art and the various architectural styles of the cities she has travelled to and lived in.” - Misho Designs

On her return to India, Parekh did a stint with architect and interior designer Ashiesh Shah, as part of his design team. She continued making jewellery, combining traditional methods with contemporary techniques, and soon found her niche in the intersection of sculpture, architecture and design.

Inspired by Bauhaus ideology and Japanese minimalism, she named

Misho after an ancient Japanese Bonsai technique, which means the process by which a seed turns into a Bonsai tree.

Parekh launched her label Misho in 2016, and recognition and awards soon followed. In March 2016 she bagged the Grazia Young Fashion

Award which she credits with helping her achieve stratospheric recognition. This was followed by the Elle Graduates award in January 2017.

Parekh and Misho also twice made it to the pages of Vogue Paris and her jewellery, worn by Rihanna, was on the cover of Vogue Arabia. She also won the Elle Style Awards 2017. Parekh herself was on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the fashion category in 2018, and won the Vogue Paris Design Award for the 15 best earrings of 2017 too.

Misho’s appeal, though, goes well beyond just celebrity validation. With modern architectural shapes and unusual design, Misho’s contemporary statement jewellery is available both instore and online of power house retailers like Selfridges, Luisaviaroma and Ogaan; and has earned ample adulation from the international press.

Misho Designs are now available at PR. Inspiring, innovative and quite possibly the most influential design store in town this Colombo 07 mecca is crammed with the most desirable labels. A modern yet surprisingly warm and textural temple to the many, much-lusted-after, collections housed in this chic shopping enclave on Horton Place in Colombo 07, PR. The Colombo concept store by

It is an interesting space to shop and is arguably Colombo’s best-known luxury fashion destination with heaps of emerging and established desirable names. Misho Designs in a cool contemporary setting.

Inspired by Bauhaus ideology and Japanese minimalism, Parekh named it Misho after an ancient Japanese Bonsai technique.
