Novice monk allegedly stole Rs. 75,000 from temple he visited

A novice monk, who is alleged to have stolen a sum of Rs.75, 000 belonging to the chief incumbent of Kalubowitiyana Mangalaramaya Viharaya is the subject of a manhunt by the Morawaka

Police.

The novice monk, who hails from another temple, had visited the Mangalaramaya on Sunday at which time he allegedly stole the money and a cellular phone belonging to another resident Buddhist monk.

He had come to get a transfer to the temple from the one he was presently attached to validated.
