Withdrawal of the special allowance has irked them!

The Diyawanna members from the Northern Alliance had been receiving a special monthly allowance until recently.

This allowance amounting to two lakhs of rupees had been meant to meet the costs of urgent development work in their respective areas. However, some Opposition members charged that the Government was offering this allowance to ensure the continued support of the members concerned.

Now that this allowance had suddenly been stopped, the members who had been receiving it have become highly fretful and are said to be agitating that it be restored without delay, they say.
