Ninewells Hospital signs MOU with Maldives’ Aasandha Company

-

A team from the Maldivian health insurance company Aasandha visited the Ninewells Hospital to tour the facility and initiate a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the hospital in order to provide health insurance services to the Maldivian community residing in Sri Lanka.

Speaking about the visit and partnership, Ninewells Hospital Marketing Director Nilantha Rathnayake said: “We were glad to welcome the management team from Aasandha to our hospital and to finalise the agreement with them. Ninewells is Sri Lanka’s leading private hospital specialising in women and childcare services and the Maldivian community has been a big part of our story and journey over the years. Therefore, we look forward to working together with Aasandha to offer Maldivians a convenient solution to their medical and health insurance needs.”

Previously, the Aasandha scheme offered universal health insurance to Maldivians for treatment abroad in cases where medical care was not available within the Maldives.

In April, Aasandha introduced the Merana scheme under which Maldivians living in Sri Lanka are eligible for Medical Insurance Services. The new Merana scheme covers a wide range of services including those covered by the Aasandha scheme and additional services such as deliveries, gynecology services and childcare.

Speaking about their visit, Aasandha Company Ltdmanaging Directormariyam Shafeeq said: “The Ninewells Hospital is a preferred choice among Maldivians living in Sri Lanka. After having visited the facility and seeing for ourselves the standard of healthcare it offers we are glad to tie up with Ninewells Hospital to offer health insurance solutions to eligible Maldivians in the near future.”

“The hospital offers state-of-the-art technology, highly specialised care and a comfortable and family-oriented ambience for patients, which has made it a popular choice among both the locals and the Maldivians,” she added.

Maldivians who register for the Merana scheme will be eligible for a total coverage of 150,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa for the treatment they receive at Ninewells Hospital, which includes 10,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa for outpatient services. Inpatient services will be covered up to the total available amount under the scheme including admission fees.

Ninewells Hospital is Sri Lanka’s leading women and childcare hospital and offers a range of specialised services including obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics and fertility. In the recent years the hospital has also gained recognition for its highly successful fertility services which has recorded IVF success rates surpassing the international industry average.
