POSON ALOKA POOJAWA AT SITULPAWWA ON JUNE 15, 16 AND 17

More than 10,000 devotees expected

The Poson Illuminations of the historic Situlpawwa Raja Maha Viharaya, which is situated inside Yala National Park will be held on June 15, 16 and 17 by the Upali Group of Companies, a media release said

“Mr Nimal Welgama, Managing Director, Upali Group and Mr Dhammika Attygalle, Vice President Dayaka Sabha will switch the lights on the Poson Poya day, the media release said.

“All arrangements have been made to assist pilgrims during the Poson period.” It said:

“It is expected that as usual over 10,000 devotees will observe Sil and an equal number will visit the Viharaya for the observance

of religious rites. Necessary steps have been taken to provide special bus services from the Tissa Town to Situlpawwa Raja Maha Viharaya during the Poson Pinkamas.

Necessary steps have also been taken-to-provide-health, water and sanitary facilities to pilgrims. Various NGOS and voluntary organizations have organized Dan Salas and will provide alms to the devotees who will observe Sil.

“The series of these Poson Pinkamas are held under the guidance and patronage of Chief Priest Venerable Pandit Mataramba Hemarathana Thera. The Incumbent at these Poson Pinkamas pride of place will be given to Seela, Bhavana, Bana Sermons, Dhamma discussion, Buddha Poojas, Bodhi Poojas and other religious rituals.

On the Poson Full Moon Day, there will be an all-night Pirith Chanting to make Triple Gem Blessings to the country.
