More than 10,000 devo­tees ex­pected

The Poson Il­lu­mi­na­tions of the his­toric Situlpawwa Raja Maha Vi­haraya, which is si­t­u­ated in­side Yala Na­tional Park will be held on June 15, 16 and 17 by the Upali Group of Companies, a me­dia re­lease said

“Mr Ni­mal Wel­gama, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, Upali Group and Mr Dham­mika At­ty­galle, Vice Pres­i­dent Dayaka Sabha will switch the lights on the Poson Poya day, the me­dia re­lease said.

“All ar­range­ments have been made to as­sist pil­grims dur­ing the Poson pe­riod.” It said:

“It is ex­pected that as usual over 10,000 devo­tees will ob­serve Sil and an equal num­ber will visit the Vi­haraya for the ob­ser­vance

of re­li­gious rites. Nec­es­sary steps have been taken to pro­vide spe­cial bus ser­vices from the Tissa Town to Situlpawwa Raja Maha Vi­haraya dur­ing the Poson Pinka­mas.

Nec­es­sary steps have also been taken-to-pro­vide-health, wa­ter and san­i­tary fa­cil­i­ties to pil­grims. Var­i­ous NGOS and vol­un­tary or­ga­ni­za­tions have or­ga­nized Dan Salas and will pro­vide alms to the devo­tees who will ob­serve Sil.

Live Tele­cast will be on ITN from Situlpawwa Raja Maha Vi­haraya on Poson Poya Day.

“The se­ries of these Poson Pinka­mas are held un­der the guid­ance and pa­tron­age of Chief Priest Ven­er­a­ble Pan­dit Mataramba He­marathana Thera. The In­cum­bent at these Poson Pinka­mas pride of place will be given to Seela, Bha­vana, Bana Ser­mons, Dhamma dis­cus­sion, Buddha Poo­jas, Bodhi Poo­jas and other re­li­gious rit­u­als.

On the Poson Full Moon Day, there will be an all-night Pirith Chant­ing to make Triple Gem Bless­ings to the country.
