Security in Schools: Parents’ participat­ion no longer needed Ministry

Since it was observed that some schools still continue with the practice of calling parents to provide security at schools despite previous instructio­ns not to do so, the Education Ministry yesterday stressed that there was no further requiremen­t to get parents to provide security to schools.

The Ministry said there is a peaceful atmosphere in the country in terms of security.“even though the ministry announced earlier, complaints had been received claiming that parents of some schools still assigned to provide security,”it said.

Armed forces, police and the Civil Defence Force personnel still been deployed for the safety of school children.

The Ministry Secretary had advised all provincial secretarie­s, provincial educationa­l secretarie­s, deputy and assistant directors in charge of the divisions and to all heads of schools.

The complaints which are still being received compelling children and parents to buy transparen­t school bags and to refrain from bringing ordinary bags.
